Dry Eye is caused is caused by damage of the tear film - more precisely by a malfunction of the Meibomian glands.
These glands are located on the edge of the eyelid and excrete an oily substance that prevents tear fluid from evaporating.
If the lipid layer in the tear film is not enough or no longer pronounced, the tear fluid evaporates too quickly, causing burning in the eye.

Dry Eye syndrome (sicca syndome) is a problem that affects up to 20 % of the population and manifests itself in various types of eye pain. It is triggered by the strain our eyes are subjected to by our modern lifestyles.

Redness, fatigue, blurred vision and scratchy eyes are the first signs of Dry Eye. Over time, many other symptoms and serious complications can occur, such as infections, sties or micro-corneal ulcers.
The treatment
The treatment is a long lasting solution ensuring that the Meibomian glands will function properly again and thus remedies the cause of Dry Eyes and the resulting eye pain- unlike eye drops that only aim at alleviating the symptoms.

Here's how the treatment is performed:
The treatment only takes a few minutes. The client sits comfortably in a chair. The technician covers the patients eyes with eye protector shells. A special gel is applied below the eyes.
A series of 8-10 light pulses are aimed at the region below the eyes.
They are painless and non-invasive. The series is repeated in the same way on the lower eyelid of the other eye.
The application restores the normal activity of the Meibomian gland, with very rapid improvement for the patient within hours of the application.
